چکیده
This paper presents experimentally determined laminar burning speeds (SL) of premixed methane/oxygen/nitrogen mixtures at sub-atmospheric conditions obtained by using the constant-pressure spherical flame method. The goal conducted experiments was to investigate effects nitrogen dilution and pressure reduction on speed flammability limits methane/oxygen mixtures. Nitrogen content varied between 3.1 79.3 volume percent. SL a target 0.5 bar investigated. Actual levels ranged 0.506 0.568 bar. Experiments 1 were as benchmark case setup compared results from literature. is found increase with decreasing pressure. show good agreement simulated data several chemical reaction mechanisms within 4.8% for near stochiometric upper limit (UFL) shown be pressure-sensitive while lower (LFL) remains stationary both reference Furthermore, LFL stay 6% vol methane content, independent ratio.

متن کاملBurning Velocities and Flammability Limits of Premixed Methane/Air/Diluent Flames in Microgravity
Laminar burning velocities and flammability limits of premixed methane/air flames in the presence of various inert gases including helium, argon, nitrogen and carbon dioxide were investigated by combined use of microgravity experiments and computations. The experiments used a short-drop free-fall laboratory facility that can eliminate the effect of buoyancy on flames and therefore enable accura...
متن کاملChemical Kinetic Uncertainty Minimization through Laminar Flame Speeds of Mixtures of Air with C1-C4-Hydrocarbons
Performing high-fidelity simulations of complex reacting flows requires that the uncertainties associated with predictions of fundamental flame properties are characterized and minimized. Although the kinetics of C1-C4 hydrocarbon flames have been studied extensively in numerous past investigations, notable uncertainties exist. In the present study, the types of hydrocarbon fuels with the great...
متن کاملThe limiting oxygen concentration and flammability limits of gases and gas mixtures
This paper presents data on the limiting (minimum) oxygen concentration (LOC), in the presence of added N2, of methane (CH4), propane (C3H8), ethylene (C2H4), carbon monoxide (CO), and hydrogen (H2), and some of their binary mixtures. It also addresses the issue of the flammable concentration (flammability) limits of these pure gases in air. The study is based on spark ignited explosions in lar...
متن کاملExperimental determination of counterflow ignition temperatures and laminar flame speeds of C2–C3 hydrocarbons at atmospheric and elevated pressures
Experimental data were acquired for: (1) the ignition temperatures of nitrogen–diluted ethylene and propylene by counterflowing heated air for various strain rates and system pressures up to 7 atm; (2) the laminar flame speeds of mixtures of air with acetylene, ethylene, ethane, propylene, and propane, deduced from an outwardly propagating spherical flame in a constant-pressure chamber, for ext...
